Product Description

1. Sintered Mesh Overview

Sintered wire mesh is made from multiple layers of woven wire mesh panels together using a sintering process. This process combines heat and pressure to permanently bond multi-layers of mesh together. The same physical process used to fuse individual wires together within a layer of wire mesh is also be used to fuse adjacent layers of mesh together. This creates a unique material offering excellent mechanical properties. It is an ideal material for purification and filtration. It may be from 5, 6 or 7 layers of wire mesh (5 layers sintered filter mesh structure drawing as right picture).

60, 100 Micron Stainless Steel Woven Screen Sintered Wire MeshAccording to the number of layers, sintered mesh laminate can be divided into two series: single layer sintered mesh laminate and multiple layers sintered mesh laminate.

Single-layer sintered mesh laminate
As is known to us all, a single layer woven wire mesh has some shortcomings although it is used in a wide range of applications, the mesh has a tendency to fray at the edges, and wires may shift within the weave, which in turn changes the whole structure, also effects the filter rating because its pore size has been compromised.

The sintering process, the combination of heat and pressure, creates molecular diffusion-welds at each and every "intersection" in the wire mesh where the wires cross over and under one another, so as to make the wire mesh full of enhanced mechanical and filtration properties.

Take 10 × 10 plain weave woven wire mesh for an example, the cross-section drawing shows clear change before sintering and after sintering of the woven wire mesh.

Multiple Layer Sintered Mesh Laminate

Ranging from two layers to more than 25 layers, multiple layer sintered mesh laminate provides enhanced mechanical properties for filters and extreme environment applications. One layer wire mesh for filtration, separation, sifting, lacks structural rigidity which easily leads to damage. Adding to another or more layers in sequence, through the sintering process, a deep filter medium is capable of withstanding high-pressure drop.

With a five-layer sintered mesh as a strong base, six-layer sintered mesh is made to add one layer of 12 mesh. Six-layer sintered mesh laminate can be used as filtering, washing, drying that three in one medical filter plate, which can be divided into two types: split and monolithic construction filter plate.

2. Sintered Filter Mesh Features

Sintered Filter Mesh offers a number of important benefits, including:

  • Enhanced stability: The sintering process results in greater stability, which makes it an excellent choice for mesh with a higher percentage of open areas or that requires a secure pore size.
  • Superior strength: The inherent strength of sintered wire cloth facilitates high-pressure backwashing and also provides excellent resistance to punctures and abrasions.
  • Reusability: Because diffusion metal wire cloth is so durable and easy to clean, it can be reused for many applications without sacrificing quality or performance.
  • Easy to fabricate: Sintered wire cloth is extremely easy to fabricate. It can be formed into depth filter media and other applications that require controlled permeability.
  • Flexibility: The versatility of diffusion bonded wire cloth enables it to be used to create various combinations of square plain weave wire mesh layers to produce a wide range of filtration and flow properties.

Compared to regular wire cloth, sintered wire mesh is made by applying heat and pressure to layers of woven wire cloth. The contact points of the wires are all bonded together to form a strong mesh that is easy to fabricate to any size.

3. Sintered Filter Mesh Applications

All of the benefits listed above and several others make sintered wire cloth an excellent choice for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Oil & Gas: The oil and gas industry can use diffusion bonded wire cloth for efficient sand control over numerous types of formation sands, as well as for multiple gravel-pack applications.
  • Fluidization: Use sintered wire cloth for fluidizing bulk powders and solids under the most challenging conditions, such as extreme-temperature and high-corrosion environments.
  • Power generation: Diffusion bonded wire cloth can maximize the performance of power generation filtration systems for applications such as reactor water cleanup and fuel pool cleanup. It can also help to lower the operating costs in condensate filter and polishing systems.
  • General industry: General industrial applications of sintered wire cloth include catalyst recovery, steam filtration, polymer filtration, demineralizing and many others.
